tea_and_folkpunk It took multiple listens to get through Capitol Riot without crying. These songs are so anchored to a time and place I imagine in the future I'll listen and remember to feel exactly what I feel right now. Favorite track: Potential.

frankynstein just like the propaganda that inspired it, this music sinks into your brain and finds a place to burrow into. Each track is a perfectly formulated combination of multiple elements. I don't have the musical vocab to explain it properly, but each track simply hits the spot and represents it's inspiration in a brilliant way. Favorite track: Future Kings.

No Youth 01:58
No long nights. No dead friends. No hate. Fear no youth. No long nights. No dead friends. No hate, no fear, No youth. No sleepless nights, No wasted rights, No pointless life, No one misled. No broken heads, No fear, no dread. No kings. No queens. No french fry cooks. No screenshots. No dumb plots. No dumb fucks. No jerks. No sleepless nights. No wasted rights. No lies. No end. No spring. No youth. No long nights. No dead friends. No hate. Fear no youth. No long nights. No dead friends. No hate, no fear, No youth. No youth.

Tires on the pavement. Pollution in the air. Sirens getting louder, but don’t nobody care. Lawyers on the billboards. Billboards by the foot. Everybody wants to move, but everybody’s staying put. Nevermind the clamor. Nevermind the noise. Nevermind the whirlwind that’s coming to destroy. Gather up your luggage. Gather up your kids. Accept it for exactly what it is: There’s a fire. There’s a fire. There’s a fire in the distance getting closer. Everyone is deadlocked. Things don’t ever change. Things don’t ever modify, they only rearrange. Lawyers on the billboards, prominent like gods. Don’t bet against the rising heat; don’t bet against the odds. Nevermind the racket. Nevermind the noise. Nevermind the hurricane that’s coming to destroy. Gather up your luggage. Gather up your kids. Accept it for exactly what it is: There’s a fire. There’s a fire. There’s a fire. In the distance getting closer.

Monuments 03:49
You don’t have to be free to be dreaming of futures. You don’t have to be chased to be living in fear. You don’t have to be shocked and disturbed to be broken. You just have to be here. Here in the woods. Here in the dark. Surrounded by wolves and circling sharks. Blood in your mouth. Blood on your lips. There will be monuments made to this. You don’t have to be lost to be wandering aimlessly. You don’t have to be calm to be holding back tears. You don’t have to be battered and stunned to be bleeding out. You just have to be here. Here in the woods. Here in the dark. Surrounded by wolves and circling sharks. Blood in your mouth. Blood on your lips. There will be monuments made to this.

Future Kings 03:34
Someone’s gotta stand there at the gates. Someone’s gotta keep you people safe. Someone’s gotta kill or somebody else will. It’s a hard and thankless job, and I’m doing it for you. These people are all animals - give ‘em just one inch, They’ll take a thousand more before you blink. They’ll steal all your things and live like future kings; I’m here to knock ‘em down before they do. They’ll tell you that you’ve got nothing to fear. That life without us wouldn’t be severe. You can’t believe everything that you hear. Someone’s gotta snuff out the obscene. Someone’s gotta keep this city clean. Someone’s gotta hold the leash and keep the muzzle tight, and You can’t desecrate this concrete with a boot against your neck. Every single day’s a war, and everyone’s an enemy, At Least everyone that doesn’t do things right. And if I gotta pull some strings to kill a couple future kings, Nobody’s gonna hold someone that looks like me to blame. These people wanna ruin my career They say that you’ve got nothing here to fear. You can’t believe everything that you hear.

Capitol Riot 05:55
“Treason!” “Pence was a traitor! Traitor Pence!” “We’re gonna walk down, and I’ll be there with you...we’re gonna walk down...to the Capitol.” “Yeah! Let’s take the Capitol! Take the Capitol! Take it!” “We are going to the Capitol, where our problems are - it’s that direction.” Every window shatters; Yells and broken glass. Full of rage, with war to wage, They swarm the place en masse. Livid from deception. Packing flags and guns. They see a man in uniform and break into a run. He rushes up the stairs, They follow, seething hate, Ready to burn the whole place down, Or break what they can break. Meanwhile on the front lawn, Noose and guillotine Get hastily erected While the crowd surrounding screams. Back inside the building, They beat a man to death, A follower gets shot, Both breathe their final breath. Behind the big oak doors, Underneath a desk, A family is hiding, Scared of what comes next. Weeping silent tears, Praying for their life, They escape by the edge of a knife. Lies are the enemy. “Break it down!” “Where the fuck are they?” (windows being broken) (gunshot killing Ashli Babbitt) “Use the shield! "We need fresh patriots to the front! (screaming, sirens, chaos) “Fight for Trump!”

Potential 03:48
(chord changes in parenthesis) The (G) clock has notched another turn . The (C) leaves are dead and (G) gone. The (G) news is flashing numbers of the (D) people who’ve passed on. (D7) In every (G) city ‘round the (G7) world, pent up (C) shame and pain (Cm) unfurl; Watch it (G) spreading, watch it (D) vanish, watch it (G) grow. (D) Let the (G) fireworks in number match the (C) death count. Let the (G) massiveness of trauma be shot (D) high. (D7) When every (G) dog and cat has (G7) hidden, let our (C) crimes all be (Cm) forgiven. (G) Watch them panic, watch them (D) whimper, watch them (G) go. (G7) (C) When the moon begins to (D) fall into the (G) river. Let the (C) water carry (D) everything (C) away. When the (C) night consumes the (D) sky and the (G) cacophony begins to (Em) die, Let the (C) fireworks fly. Watch ‘em (D) rise into the (D7) sky. There is (G) hope, there is (D) hope, there is (C) hope in (G) potential. In (G) potential there is danger, there is (D) hope. (D7) When the (G) last light in the (G7) sky (C) begins to dim and (Cm) die, In (G) potential, there is (D) danger, there is (G) hope.

about

Hello.

Welcome to Storm Transmissions, an album started in the middle of the global coronavirus pandemic. It was initially intended to capture the anxiety of the 24 hour news cycle, in addition to serving as an outlet for my fears and hopes in this strange new reality. A few months into it, I reconnected with my old friend Shannen Muhl, a visual artist living on the opposite end of the country, and we hatched a plan to turn Storm Transmissions into a video album.

What you see/hear is the result of that project. We’re grateful that you’ve carved out some time to spend with us, and hope that you are finding ways to continue moving forward and helping out in the ongoing chaos.

Good luck out there.

Stay strong,
Rob Taxpayer
